Job responsibilities
Amazon Photos helps consumers preserve and re-live their memories. The service comes with unlimited photo storage for Prime members and apps are available on iOS, Android, Web, Desktop, Fire Tablet & Fire TV. The service is also integrated into Alexa devices such as Echo Show and Echo Spot. Amazon Photos is the latest digital offering to consumers released on the heels of the Amazon Music and Amazon Video offerings. We have ambitious goals to scale growth and adoption of the service around the world and delight our customers with a great product.

Who you are:
You are an engineer experienced in shipping great software. You have a passion for architecting and implementing massively scalable web services. You have a deep understanding of how network services work and where they are most likely to breakdown in order to make them more resilient. You love working through complex systems to separate concerns and create a clean, maintainable architecture. You want to raise the bar and will not settle for “it works”. You actively look for ways to improve the durability and resilience of distributed systems to be more fault tolerant and scalable.

What you will do here:
As a member of the Amazon Photos Core Services team, you will work with other extraordinary engineers to reimagine the Amazon Photos platform. Your architecture will help take Amazon Photos to exabyte scale, and beyond. You will ensure the best engineering practices are followed and that our software is designed to be responsive, reliable and maintainable. You will be a role model and mentor for other engineers on the team.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
· Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
• Candidates must have a Bachelor in Computer Science Engineering or related field.
• Excellent problem solving skills.
• Possess an extremely sound understanding of areas in the basic areas of Computer Science such as Algorithms, Data Structures, Object Oriented Design, Databases.
• Candidate must have good written and oral communication skills, be a fast learner and have the ability to adapt quickly to a fast-paced development environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
· Equivalent experience to a Bachelor’s degree based on 3 years of work experience for every 1 year of education
· 2+ years professional experience in software development
· Proficient in at least one object-oriented programming language such as Java, Kotlin, C++.
· Strong problem solving skills and computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms)
· Experience with REST and other web service models.
