To be successful in this role you will have a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a need to take ownership of your work and have strong problem-solving skills to improve and streamline processes. Accordingly, the expectation is this individual will become a subject matter expert that builds, designs, and consults with control owners across Amazon Pharmacy, can perform technical accounting research and assist with the memo writing process through the approval from the Amazon Accounting Policy Team, and providing project support and assistance to Amazon Pharmacy’s teams with the design of new products, product features, or offerings to ensure successful project delivery and controllership.

Candidates will work in a fast-paced environment, manage through ambiguity and complexity whilst supporting multiple, simultaneous project launches impacting Amazon Pharmacy. This position is expected to have sufficient finance/accounting experience to help the business teams identify and incorporate necessary reporting, have a solid understanding of computing system interaction and can identify internal control elements into systems or tools to support new business activities. This role requires excellent communication and organization skills, including the ability to anticipate, identify and communicate risks to senior leadership.

Responsibilities will include:
· Working with business teams to develop and execute on controls strategies
· Driving control design and implementation with engineering, business, and accounting teams
· Contributing to deep dives on process areas to define the set of risk and controls in addressing financial reporting risk
· Ensure appropriate financial policies, procedures, and internal controls are in place, documented, and operating as intended
· Advising on and designing controls and compliance programs
· Providing ongoing support to process owners/control owners and cross-functional teams to ensure controls are designed and implemented effectively
· Participating in annual walkthroughs with process/application/control owners across the company and external auditors
· Supporting the quarterly 302 sub-certification process and related reporting
· Assisting in the evaluation of identified control deficiencies and monitoring of remediation efforts
· Researching technical accounting issues as they arise, drafting memos, working with the Amazon Accounting Policy Team to approve the memo, and working with the accounting team to implement the new policies
· Working cross functionally with business teams to ensure new projects are SOX compliant and new processes are documented


· 5+ years of finance experience or a related analytical field.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting


· 4+ years of relevant experience in Controls/Audit/ Compliance/SOX roles
· Big 4 public accounting experience
· Strong knowledge of the internal control framework and solid understanding of the concepts of control design and operational effectiveness
· Strong understanding of SOX methodology and associated standards (sections 302, 404, AS5, PCAOB, etc.)
· Experience designing and implementing controls or experience performing audits over financial reporting environment.
· Strong interpersonal written and oral communication skills
· Experience working in a fast-paced environment similar to a high-tech start-up
· Strong ability to manage a project from beginning to end
