Job summary
The AWS Infrastructure group is responsible for procuring, setting up and operating all AWS infrastructure. This includes data center setup, equipment purchases, installation and operation of servers with power and cooling, inventory management and other such decisions. The supply chain planning group within AWS infrastructure is building a new suite of tools to automate all AWS supply chain planning. We are responsible for tactical decision making such as data center operations, demand fulfillment, replenishment, as well a long-term decision making like inventory management, network design and others. The solutions we develop are scalable to sustain rapid AWS growth, and also flexible to support the evolving AWS supply chain.

We are looking for a high caliber Front End Engineer who wants to work on challenging, high impact problems. The services we own are responsible for billions of dollars in spend, resulting in us having a huge opportunity to move the needle in a positive direction. Key job responsibilities
This experienced Frontend Engineer will work with the Data Center team in the Supply Chain Automation group, and help build the next generation tools and portals that will enable Infrastructure Planning and Management Teams to have real time visibility and control of the global supply chain for AWS data centers. In this role, you will work with other engineers, other web developers, product managers, and UX designers to conceptualize and create responsive and usable web interfaces.

Creating the perfect user experience in a web environment requires a blend of technical knowledge, customer obsession and agility. You should be somebody who is interested in how the various components (browsers, networks, protocols and web servers) work together, and understand how they can be effectively used together to create great user experiences. You will work closely with customers to ensure we are delivering interfaces that make it easy to do complex tasks, without making the experience challenging. You will be part of a small, fast moving team that will have a huge impact on the overall business. The AWS Supply Chain team and build systems that enable AWS to rapidly grow and continue to be the pioneer and widely recognized leader in Cloud Computing, and have direct and immediate impact on the hundreds of thousands of developers and businesses around the world who use AWS every day.

Supply Chain Management (SCM) systems are at the heart of ensuring we can provide our customers with the right computing services, in the right region, at the right time! The SCM team is responsible for building inventory and warehouse management systems that enable control of our global footprint for our hyper-growth cloud and automate the orchestration required to ensure physical and financial control of inventory. Our team is responsible for billions of dollars in capital and the ultimate success of our core cloud infrastructure business.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field OR equivalent experience to a Bachelor’s degree based on 3 years of work experience for every 1 year of education
  • 3+ years of overall software development experience, with an emphasis on web applications
  • 3+ years of experience as a member of a UI design team participating in the complete product development lifecycle of successfully launched applications
  • 3+ year so of experience building data-driven web applications
  • 3+ years of JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, NodeJS and latest JavaScript standards.
  • 1+ year of experience in, at least, one modern programming language such as Java/Scala/Go/C#/Python on Unix/Linux


  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 4+ years professional experience in software development
  • Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design
  • Computer Science fundamentals in data structures
  • Computer Science fundamentals in algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis
  • 3+ years of experience building scalable front-end infrastructure software or distributed systems for commercial online services.
  • 3+ years of experience with cross browser compatibility, browser tuning and optimization techniques/tools
  • Experience delivering front-end software that is stable, secure and high performant
  • Experience developing rich applications with HTML, CSS, JS, Node
  • Experience developing front-end software, with deep experience in one or more relevant front-end frameworks (like ReactJS and AngularJS), UI Test Automation frameworks, MVC frameworks
  • Experience in a broad range of software design approaches and common UX patterns. Knows when (and when not) to use front-end software design patterns (e.g., asynchronicity, promises, etc.)
  • Experience in view layout and rendering technologies (e.g., responsiveness, progressive enhancement, browser/device support). Knows when it is appropriate to make graceful fallbacks
  • Knowledge of engineering and operational excellence best practices
  • Instrument software with real user metrics to reflect the customer experience
  • UI implementation experience, and with a portfolio of work that demonstrates detailed attention to typography, color, imagery, motion, and graphic elements
  • Familiar emerging trends in desktop, web, and mobile app development
  • Experience with deployments, dev ops, and/or AWS
  • Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role
  • Meets/exceeds Amazon’s functional/technical depth and complexity for this role.
