Job summary
The The Virtual HR Learning team is looking for an innovative Learning Experience Designer to play a key role in developing learning programs and content for our global HR teams. Virtual HR plays a critical role in supporting Amazon’s mission to become Earth’s Best Employer as the primary HR support function for Amazonians around the globe. You will create and continuously improve learning programs using an array of creative approaches that inspire our agents to provide world class service for all 1.5 million Amazon employees seeking human resources support.

In this role you will, innovate, move quickly, insist on highest standards, and not be constrained by how things have been done before. You will have the ability to manage multiple concurrent and interdependent projects and have experience working cross-functionally with global stakeholders.

As a Learning Experience Designer, you will be responsible for analyzing, designing, and developing high quality training content for ~6000 associates located around the world. You will develop eLearning, just-in-time performance support, microlearning, and instructor-led (both virtual and in-person) learning materials. You will represent the Learning team on global project teams, articulating the needs of the learner and how the project will impact the business. You will consider a global audience in the design of your learning programs, ensuring that your content can “speak” to audiences who vary in culture and country. You will design content, which is scalable and delivers results and use proven evaluation methodology to make effective changes going forward. You will also be responsible for working with internal stakeholders to manage the creation of new training content and updating current content end to end.

Yow own the solution from start to finish, analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation for learning solutions using a variety of modalities. This individual has demonstrated expertise in learning experience design and requires an individual who can navigate through ambiguity, innovate, move quickly, and not be constrained by how things have been done before; as well as consult with stakeholders on the best means of delivery for key learning objectives.

This role can sit in Austin(TX), Dallas(TX), Nashville (TN), and Arlington(VA).

Key job responsibilities
• Design and develop both individual lessons and large curricula.
•Lead and implement the design, creation and standardization of global learning programs that have high degree of ambiguity and complexity.
•Create, update, and continuously improve learning programs materials (eLearning, videos, just-in-time performance support, Instructor led training, job aids, microlearning, facilitator guides).
•Lead the development and implementation of team templates, learning models, and overall best practices.
•Utilize ADDIE, SAM, Kirkpatrick, and other recognized models to rapidly design, develop and publish engaging course content and learning activities eLearning, ILT (both in person and virtual), blended learning, job aids, performance support tools, etc.
•Publish materials and execute reporting utilizing Amazon’s Learning Management System. •Collaborate with the Employee Services Learning Solutions teammates to report monthly on the status of programs including: delivered projects, success metrics, work in progress and new requests.
•Build and maintain long-term relationships with subject matter experts (SME) to assist in guiding you through developing accurate and relevant content for global audiences in a variety of subject areas.
•Conduct stakeholder and SME interviews to determine, recommend, and document project instructional standards, learner engagement strategies, and evaluation plans.
•Stay current on new learning approaches, technology and tools through continuous research to ensure our solutions deliver innovation.
•Experiment with new learning strategies, methods, and pilot programs.

A day in the life
In a typical day, you will work on several instructional design projects ranging from leading multi-lesson curriculum development to upgrading existing content . While our content uses a variety of modalities, most of the work produced supports eLearning or ILT.

You will collaborate with teammates and stakeholders located across the globe to brainstorm solutions and incorporate global perspectives in your content. Model stakeholder management as you interact with training requesters, updating progress and asking questions to make sure solutions align with goals.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 3 years professional experience in instructional design and analysis
  • Experience with learner-centred, performance-based instructional theories and adult learning principles in multi-modal instruction such as eLearning, performance support aids, online tutorials and collaborative learning environments.
  • Experience with eLearning tools such as Captivate, Articulate Storyline and Rise, Camtasia, Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator, Flash and Software technology like HTML, Javascript for learning portal design

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

•Familiarity with Adobe Suite.
•Demonstrated proficiency with SCORM compliant production tools
•Understanding of SCORM APIs and xAPIs for LMS interaction.
•LMS (e.g., Cornerstone) administration experience including eLearning publishing and learning assessments.
•Industry certifications in instructional design, curriculum development, performance improvement, project management, and content-specific certifications as appropriate
•Experience with online animation software (e.g.,Vyond)
•Demonstrated ability to communicate difficult concepts and processes using clear and simple language and visuals.
•Able to prioritize in complex, fast-paced work environment.
•Problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise integrity and sound judgment in complex and ambiguous situations.
•Excellent organizational, collaboration and interpersonal skills.
This role requires strong training and development background and also exceptional program management skills. Someone knowledgeable in adult learning and instructional design strategies for performance-based outcomes.
Note: Work samples (portfolio) demonstrating your experience and skill using course authoring tools and ID theory will be required as part of the hiring process.
