Job Description 

    • You will serve as a MECHANICAL ENGINEER in the Systems Engineering Branch of the CARRIER PLANNING ACTIVITY.

      This announcement uses the Acquisition expedited hiring authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service.

      Responsibilities

        • You will develop long range maintenance strategies for troubled or slow to degrade systems as required to support the aircraft carriers 50-year life cycle.
        • You will develop special engineering studies related to maintenance of new systems or resolution of discrepancies in existing systems.
        • You will assist in the development, review, and management of Baseline Availability Work Packages (BAWP’s).
        • You will review work accomplished by contractors to assure that it complies with good engineering practices, appropriate specifications, established procedures and policies as well as meeting established quality standards.
        • You will provide technical guidance to contractors for tasks which require adapting or modifying existing methods to solve unusual problems.
        • You will resolve problems, which occur when the work within the section deviates from established policies and procedures.

      Qualifications

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: As a professional engineer advising in the design, overhaul, or modernization of shipboard mechanical systems.
