DESCRIPTION

For more than 11 years, Amazon Web Services (“AWS”) has been the world’s most comprehensive and broadly adopted cloud platform. AWS offers over 100 fully featured services to millions of active customers around the world—including the fastest-growing startups, largest enterprises, and leading government agencies—to power their infrastructure. Within AWS, the Energy Industry Business Unit (IBU) is responsible for supporting the multi-national enterprise organizations from the Energy sector in their journey to the cloud. The Energy IBU is a diverse organization comprised of Global Account Managers, Inside Sales Account Managers, Solution Architects, Customer Solutions Managers, Go-to-Market professionals, Partner Sales Managers and Sales Operations professionals situated across the globe. We are a team of builders that set out every day to innovate on behalf of AWS’s largest customers and disrupt the status quo on their behalf. We don’t sit back and watch the world change; we’re the ones changing it. And we are on the hunt for curious and inventive builders who want to join a team where every day is full of engaging and meaningful work. The Energy IBU is a relatively young business unit within AWS. This offers the right candidate the unique opportunity to partner with the IBU leaders and help shape the future of this high potential business unit.

We are seeking for an experienced Business Intelligence expert with deep Sales Strategy and Operations roots to help us grow the analytical infrastructure our leaders need to grow a sustainable, scalable, agile business. In this role, you will be a trusted advisor providing analytical thought leadership to our sales operations and sales leadership teams. You will develop the unique insights that will fuel dynamic decision making, set high standards, and utilize cutting-edge technology to enable productivity. The role is highly visible and critical to the health and growth of the business unit.

The ideal candidate earns trust through outstanding performance, has strong strategic planning and financial acumen, and has creative ideas for insightful data visualizations. The ideal candidate has the broad technical skills, strong data management skills, and the deep analytics background needed to work across our BD&SI (Business Development and Strategic Industries) central BI team and internal IBU stakeholders to develop the right analytical infrastructure in support of the IBU. This position is responsible for identifying technical requirements for business metrics and dashboards, partnering with data engineers to execute on those requirements, translating them into compelling visualizations, and providing useful and meaningful analysis for leadership.

Ideal candidates are passionate about data governance and are never satisfied until data standards are established and consistently in place. You want data to tell a clear story, highlight insights we have not previously seen, and do it faster than before. With prior sales operation experience driving a deep understanding of core business needs, and using your programming, SQL, and data visualization skills you’ll collaborate with our central BI team to develop solutions that will move the business forward and enable better, faster decisions.

The successful candidate must be willing to roll up their sleeves, dive deep to learn, be comfortable working with ambiguity, and have a passion for driving operational excellence.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Collaborate with our BD&SI central BI team in building data pipelines, reports, dashboards, and analyses to deliver insights to the business.
· Design and implement technical solutions with an appropriate analytics strategy and data set design. Understand system limitations, scaling factors, boundary conditions, and/or the reasons for technical decisions.
· Drive best practices in operational excellence, data modelling, and analysis. Assure BI solutions are correctly and efficiently supporting the business.
· Implement training and documentation solutions that enable business stakeholders to get the most out of our self-serve reporting tools.
· Own key executive reports and metrics that are consumed by our executive leadership team and the field organization.
· Partner with engineering, product, business and finance teams to create and iterate on key performance indicators and new methodologies for measurement.

Here at AWS, we embrace our differences. We are committed to furthering our culture of inclusion. We have twelve employee-led affinity groups, reaching 40,000 employees in over 190 chapters globally. We have innovative benefit offerings, and host annual and ongoing learning experiences, including our Conversations on Race and Ethnicity (CORE) and AmazeCon (gender diversity) conferences. Amazon’s culture of inclusion is reinforced within our 14 Leadership Principles, which remind team members to seek diverse perspectives, learn and be curious, and earn trust.
Our team puts a high value on work-life balance. It isn’t about how many hours you spend at home or at work; it’s about the flow you establish that brings energy to both parts of your life. We believe striking the right balance between your personal and professional life is critical to life-long happiness and fulfillment. We offer flexibility in working hours and encourage you to find your own balance between your work and personal lives.
Our team is dedicated to supporting new members. We have a broad mix of experience levels and tenures, and we’re building an environment that celebrates knowledge sharing and mentorship. Our senior members enjoy one-on-one mentoring and thorough, but kind, code reviews. We care about your career growth and strive to assign projects based on what will help each team member develop into a better-rounded engineer and enable them to take on more complex tasks in the future
