Job Title: Senior FPGA Engineer.


Job summary
This role within Amazon Devices is responsible for delivering FPGA systems relevant to the System architecture roadmap for consumer electronics devices such as the Echo and Fire TV.

Key job responsibilities
The key deliverable is to build, test, release FPGA systems that would be used either for prototyping, conceptual analysis or validation purposes. You will work with relevant system architects and other engineers to understand the requirements and define the FPGA systems that meet the needs. The FPGA platforms you build will be key in evaluating and driving key technology decisions in the Lab126 architecture and technology roadmap.

A day in the life
· Integrate FPGA modules from various sources, design new RTL code, and deliver FPGA releases post simulation validation, timing closure and lab test.
· Work with internal and external vendors to coordinate delivery of RTL code for integration and test.
· Collaborate with systems architects, HW engineering design teams & FW/SW design teams to bring up and test systems combining FPGA and firmware.
· Work in engineering lab to test and debug FPGA emulated designs
· Maintain existing FPGA hardware, including hardware and software
· Run system tests on FPGA systems and analyze failures and abnormal performance

About the team
The system architecture team is responsible for architecting Lab126 products including Echos, Fire Tablets, FireTV, Kindle eReaders, Hearables, Wearables and IoT. The team also owns the chipset and IP technology roadmap and drives strategies that enable reuse and scale for Amazon devices. The team is comprised of architects with varied hardware and software backgrounds. We are always on the lookout for capable architects who can raise the bar add technical expertise and depth to drive architectures for emerging concepts and next-gen devices.


· Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, related discipline
· 5+ years of experience in FPGA design & implementation


• Experience with standard Verilog and familiarity with System Verilog RTL coding
• Record of success in the design, test, delivery, support of multiple FPGAs shipping to customers
• Experience with Intel & Xilinx FPGAs
• Experience with modern ASIC / FPGA design and verification tools
• Experience with uArchitecture, RTL coding, FPGA optimization for timing & power, simulation, and validation
• Experience with scripting languages: Python or equivalent
• Embedded software experience in C/C++ or equivalent
• Skill set to enable the Optimization of FPGA designs for area, speed, and power to meet system requirements; analyze architectural trade-offs, understanding of Pipelining.
