Overview

SCOPE OF THE POSITION:

The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for analyzing, installing, configuring, maintaining and repairing the company’s network infrastructure and application components. As a member of the systems and architecture team, this position is responsible for designing and developing scalable, maintainable, highly available network architectures that meet business objectives and SLAs.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Configure, install and support various network devices and services including routers, proxy servers, switches, firewalls, DNS and DHCP

• Design and implement new network solutions and/or improve the efficiency of current networks

• Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes, firmware releases and security configurations

• Monitor network and escalate issues to service providers; notify key stakeholders

• Collaborate with architects on network optimization

• Create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems

• Maximize network performance, system availability and reliability through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting

• Implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including wireless access points, firewall, routers, switches and controllers

• Provide Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues

• Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure
• Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company’s security team

• Procure network equipment and managing subcontractors involved with network installation

• Engage with vendors and other IT personnel on problem resolution and escalate as required

• Report network status to key stakeholders

• Perform disaster recovery operations and data backups when required

Qualifications

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Proven hands-on network engineering experience with a strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware

• CCNP or higher (CCIE and/or CISSP highly valued)

• Deep understanding of networking protocols (e.g.,MPLS, SDWAN, IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS)

• Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model, Procurve Switches, Cisco ISR routers, ClearPass Wireless controller, Arista Switches.

• Experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools

• Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols

• Good analytical and problem-solving skills

• Ability to work with all levels of staff within and outside of IT and outside the organization

• A self-starter able to work independently but comfortable working in a team environment

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field of study with a network engineering focus, and

8+ years of network engineering experience
