Amazon is looking for a talented and enthusiastic Software Development Engineer II to join the Make-on-Demand Technology technology (MOD Tech) organization. As an SDE for the Ingestion team, you will invent, design, and build foundational technology to streamline book content and metadata ingestion. As a full-stack engineer you will take on challenges in bulk content ingestion, contributing to the team’s roadmap, improving the team’s development process, mentoring engineers, and collaborating with a diverse group of business and technical partners to shape the future of our technology. You will partner with peer tech leads in driving a unified solution for title ingestion including metadata and lifecycle management, for books worldwide.

Great candidates for this position are excited by ambiguous problems and have a strong understanding of cloud architecture, digital security, algorithms, object-oriented design, micro-services, and more.

We are looking for candidates who are passionate about delivering a world-class title ingestion experience to authors and publishers around the world.


  • 1+ years of experience contributing to the system design or architecture (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
  • 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • Programming experience with at least one software programming language.


  • Excellent project management skills
  • Experience with the Scrum or Agile methodology
  • Experience with Amazon AWS
  • Ability to design software that can run in the cloud and handle Amazon-scale traffic
  • Able to adapt to new development environments and changing business requirements
  • Ability to work in multiple code-bases in an away-team model
