DESCRIPTION
Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

Amazon seeks a Radiation Effects Engineer to be part of a small team focused on reliability against radiation effects.
· Candidate will define, collect, and analyze TID, heavy ion, and proton testing data to qualify components against space radiation and help build a database of electronic component test data
· Candidate will help develop models to determine system-level impact of radiation-induced failures
· Candidate will be responsible for the qualification of a wide-range of electronic components including microcontrollers, FPGAs, and power management hardware
· Will work with an interdisciplinary team to offer guidance to electrical design engineers on the selection and proper utilization of radiation sensitive components
Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
· Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent degree, or equivalent experience
· 1+ years of experience in spaceflight avionics development, parts selection, and radiation test
· 1+ years System design and component qualification experience with radiation environments and radiation tolerant hardware
· Demonstarted understanding of the impact of SEE and TID effects on electronic systems
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Master’s of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent degree, or equivalent experience
· PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics or Computer Engineering
· Experience with NASA, Defense or Commercial Space programs
· Experience with particle transport tools such as FastRAD, NOVICE or GEANT4
· Knowledge of radiation modeling tools such as Ax8/Ax9, CREME96, and SPENVIS
· Knowledge of Python and/or LabView
