Do you have experience managing large, complex programs? Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking seasoned, proven leader to join the Infrastructure Operations organization.

This organization operates rapidly-scaling, high-availability data centers supporting the U.S government. They execute server and network device installations, IT hardware repairs, and data center mechanical and electrical system operations and maintenance on a 24×7 basis. The Sr. Manager of Operations must be technically adept, operationally agile, and completely committed to availability. The Sr. Manager will be responsible for ensuring standards for operational performance in the areas of safety, security, availability, productivity, capacity, efficiency, and cost of all data centers in a specific region.

The right candidate will need to stay on top of the long-term strategy as well as the operating details of his/her organization to ensure urgent tactical issues are closed and their teams are taking steps to head off customer impacting risks and issues. We seek a proven leader with operational strength and experience building and leading large geographically dispersed teams.

· Operation and maintenance of data center mechanical, electrical, and controls systems to include preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, emergency maintenance, and change management.
· Oversight of teams responsible for installation, repair, and decommissioning of data center hardware and network devices.
· Leading, managing, coaching, and developing the data center cluster operations management teams.
· Performance management of key vendors such as maintenance vendors in line with management goals.
· Executing the infrastructure operations support component of new data center launches and existing data center expansions.
· Proposing and complying with agreed operational performance goals relating to safety, security, availability, capacity, people, and cost.
· Supporting the physical security safeguarding of the people, assets, and customer data in data centers.
· Operations budgeting and management of capital expenditures and operating expenses in line with management targets.
· Contributing to continuous improvement of operational processes, procedures, methods, and tools including those related to safety, security, and availability incident/event response, management, recovery, and resolution.

Amazon is seeking adventurous and energetic professionals for our Amazon Web Services Team. These future Amazonians must hold a government clearance and be willing to go to one of five locations to complete specialized training to prepare for deployment in a data center region. It is expected that training will be completed over a duration of 3-9 months. Once training is completed, individuals will be relocated to the permanent location.

This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen and must currently possess an active TS security clearance and satisfy other security related requirements.

The base pay range for this position in Colorado is $182,000 – $230,000/yr. Pay is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on payment and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.   • 5+ years of experience leading technical teams and people managers in critical operations environments
  • Demonstrated ability to manage performance and hire and develop leaders
  • 3+ years of experience launching new sites or expanding existing operations



  • Recognized as an industry leader in the infrastructure operations field.
  • Deep knowledge of information technology infrastructure domains such as compute server platforms, storage server platforms, server components, network devices, and IT service delivery preferred.
  • Experience in new data center deployments or expansion of existing data centers is ideal.
  • Experience in continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean and Six Sigma.
  • Experience with information technology infrastructure including datacenter facilities
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to include long form business documents.
  • 10+ years of global or regional operational experience.
