Summary

About the Position: As Test Administrator, you will administer tests to individuals wishing to enter the military. This position is assigned to the Los Angeles Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) in El Segundo, CA.

First Cutoff Date: October 28, 2021

Duties

  • Administer the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) to determine individual qualifications for enlistment into military service and to support the Career Exploration Program at area high schools and other educational institutes.
  • Following established administrative practices and guidelines, you will instruct applicants on testing procedures and distribute, collect and maintain accountability of all materials while administering paper and computer based exams.
  • Conduct quality control checks to ensure that all forms are properly completed and make corrections if needed.
  • Prepare applicant packages and mail documents to the appropriate office for action.
  • Responsible for the overall safety and security of the testing materials to ensure proper safeguarding, storage, and use in accordance with established regulations.

  • Employee may travel up to 100% of the time to conduct test in remote locations or at schools.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires you to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state issued or US territory issued driver’s license.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. As an Intermittent employee you do not have a regular scheduled tour of duty. The number of hours worked during one week will fluctuate but not exceed 40 hours and there is no consistency in the days or hours worked each week. Intermittent employees do not accrue sick or annual leave and they are not entitled to life insurance while employed under an intermittent work schedule. Under the Federal Employee Health Benefits expansion you are eligible for health benefits as long as you meet the eligibility. As an Intermittent employee you must work 130 hours per month or more for at least 90 days to be eligible for the health benefits. Intermittent employees are covered under the Federal Employee Retirement System (FERS) and eligible for Thrift Savings Plan (TSP).

General experience is defined as progressively responsible clerical, office or other work that indicates ability to acquire the skills needed to perform the duties of the position e.g., reviewing forms and documents for accuracy; customer service, use of office automation, or materials storage and inventory.

Education: Two years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of by 60. Add the two percentages.
