Job Title: UX Designer.

Alexa is the ground-breaking, cloud-based intelligent assistant that powers Echo and other devices designed around your voice. Every single day, Alexa is getting smarter and adding new skills like tracking fitness, playing games, and more. Did you know she can recommend a wine to pair well with your dinner, find the right 20-minute workout for you (or even just a 5-minute workout!), and can deliver a weather report that’s specific to your address? We are looking for a UX designer to improve and create the tools that our teams use to generate great experiences for Alexa customers.

You must be extremely proactive, because you will regularly find yourself in uncharted territory where the key to your success will be to get ahead of the curve. You must be a collaborator, and will be working side-by-side with product managers, voice designers, multimodal designers, and engineers to create an elegantly simple interface. You will need to have top notch creative and influencing chops, including the ability to work across teams. Additionally, you must be able to juggle multiple projects and priorities with high attention to detail in a fast-moving environment. The ideal candidate will be focused on how their designs make life easier for their end-users. They will dive deep to understand the needs of the people using the systems they are designing.

Job responsibilities
As a UX Designer, you will be responsible for designing internal, web-based tools for multiple teams across Alexa. These systems empower domain teams to create and track great experiences for Alexa customers across screened, headless, and mobile devices. You will partner with internal teams to understand their needs, and design new capabilities and improvements to help them achieve better end-customer experiences. You will work closely with tech teams to implement and execute your ideas.

You will define concept and execution, articulating end-to-end experience, and help drive that vision into solid design deliverables such as user interface designs, flows, wireframes, high fidelity mocks with redlines, and prototypes. You will advise on roadmaps, and your work will translate to new patterns and best practices.

Experience running your own user research is incredibly helpful in this role.

· An internet-accessible portfolio of your work. Please provide as part of your resume.
· 3+ years of professional experience as a User Experience Designer, Interaction Designer, Information Architect, or similar design-related role.
· Bachelor’s degree in interaction design, human-computer (HCI), or related UX degree or equivalent experience.

· Experience creating prototypes or wireframes for web applications.
· Experience working in a collaborative team and directly with developers on implementation of designs.
· Experience in best practices for information architecture and interaction design, user-centered design process.
· Strong knowledge of user experience principles, techniques, and patterns.
· An understanding of current speech and language technologies.
· Demonstrated history of performing user research or gathering quantitative customer data.
· Demonstrated ability to influence product teams and product decisions via design and research.
· A track record of successfully working across teams to synthesize feedback and input from product management, engineering, and marketing. You should be able to tell us why you made decisions you made in past work, and how you approach learning & validation in new spaces.
· Exceptional communication (written and verbal), collaboration, and presentation skills.
· Ability to manage ambiguity, work autonomously, and multi-task in an agile environment.
